The usual life of a prosthesis is anywhere between 5-7 years. Which is the reason that most ocularists suggest to come in on a yearly basis, so that they can check on how both you and your artificial eye are doing. However, remember that if you are uncomfortable with how your eye feels you should come in immediately so that the ocularists can make sure that there are no scratches and that it fits you correctly.
